Junior Softball (Under 12s – Under 21s)

Junior Softball is where players continue developing their skills, build confidence and experience the excitement of competitive fastpitch softball.

At Howick Softball Club, we provide opportunities for boys and girls from Under 12 through to Under 21 grades to continue their softball journey in a supportive, team-focused environment.

Whether your child is continuing from Flexi Ball or joining softball for the first time, our Junior programme welcomes players of all abilities who want to learn, compete and enjoy the game.

Junior Fastpitch

Our Junior Fastpitch programme focuses on developing the skills needed to play competitive softball while creating a positive and enjoyable team environment.

Players continue to develop:

Batting and hitting skills
Throwing and pitching
Catching and fielding techniques
Base running
Game strategy and decision making
Teamwork and sportsmanship

As players progress through the grades, they are supported by coaches who help them build confidence, improve their skills and reach their potential.

Grades

Junior Softball includes:

Under 12s
Under 13s
Under 15s
Under 17s
Under 19s
Under 21s

Grade availability is dependent on player numbers each season.

Season Information

The Junior Softball season runs from October through to March, beginning after Labour Weekend.

Games times vary as part of a home and away competition.

Training times are arranged once teams have been finalised and will be confirmed by coaches.

There are no games during the school holidays, allowing players and families time to enjoy a break during the season.

Uniforms

Junior players are provided with a club playing shirt for the season.

Players are responsible for purchasing and providing their own:

Softball pants
Club playing cap
Softball glove
Appropriate softball footwear

The club can help with any uniform or equipment questions and provide guidance on where to purchase items if needed.

Please ensure all playing gear is ready before the season begins.

Howick Softball Club is proud to be a community-focused club where players can build friendships, develop skills and enjoy being part of a team.

Many of our junior players continue through the club pathway into Senior and Premier softball, supported by experienced coaches and a strong softball community.
